Partial Profits
Also called: partial, partial stops, took partial, partial profit, trimmed, trimming
Selling a portion of a position when it hits a gain threshold rather than holding the full position. In choppy markets where my average gain wasn't getting past 10% I started taking partial profits at that level because it's unnatural for me as a trend trader but the environment required adapting.
In Context
“Smartest thing I did this year was recognize that my average gain for new positions wasn't getting past 10% so I started taking partial profits when one would hit that, like WULF last month.”
